South Yorkshire Police has made a mandatory self-referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) relating to the investigation
A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder following a collision in Sheffield yesterday (Saturday 3 September) which killed David Ford.
Jermaine Richards, of Wordsworth Drive in Sheffield, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal damage.
At about 5.50am yesterday, it is reported that a car was in a collision with a pedestrian on Cricket Inn Road, Park Hill. Mr Ford died as a result of his injuries. A second man was left seriously injured after being assaulted.
Richards has been remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday 5 September)..
The referral to the IOPC is due to police interactions with Richards in the lead up to the incident.
